Why should I have a YouTube brand channel?
A branded channel is a way to connect with fans, audiences, and customers. It represents you as a brand and gives you the opportunity to create a tie between your product or service and your audience. Therein lies the foundation for a long-term relationship.
Sign me up for this! Subscriptions are promises
The biggest “win” for a brand is a returning customer. On YouTube, it’s the subscriber: a person so convinced by your video content that they want to come back for more. This is a great opportunity for companies to bond with their target audience. If you manage to deliver and not disappoint, your circle of subscribers will continue to grow and enhance your influence – on any platform.
Show yourself! Identity by representation
We’re social beings – therefore, we like relating to other people. A YouTube channel is one way to give your brand a face. This does not mean you have to be personally visible on your brand channel. You could either work with a host or an influencer who gives your brand identity. Or, as is particularly popular with tutorial content: You use your own voice to guide your audience through a video. This way, your brand gains personality and an authentic tone of voice.
The “pros” of running a brand channel
As soon as you register on YouTube – e.g. using your Google Account – you have your own personal channel. Once you’ve created this, it can be transferred to a brand channel.
Your YouTube brand channel can still be managed by your personal Google account but have a different name. This is handy if you want to use your Google account and login but want your brand name – rather than your personal name – appear on YouTube. A link between a YouTube channel and a Google account does not have to be visible.
But the main advantage of a YouTube brand account is that multiple people can manage them from their Google Accounts. So in case, you would like an agency or an external consultant to publish videos for you or to manage your channel you don’t need to give away your password. You can simply add them as additional channel managers.
